PROFESSORSHIP (W2/W3) FOR SOCIOLOGY WITH A FOCUS ON DIGITAL SOCIAL SCIENCE

The Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences invites applications for a PROFESSORSHIP (W2/W3) FOR
SOCIOLOGY WITH A FOCUS ON DIGITAL SOCIAL SCIENCE
commencing as soon as possible, ref. no. 2298.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to teach and conduct research in the field of sociology. This professorship position is at the interface of research on the digitalization of society and meth-odological research into the use of digital data in the social sciences. The future post holder will work within the framework of the interdisciplinary Cluster of Excellence DFG EXC 2037 “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CliCCS)” (2019-2025), in particular, the use of digital research methods to explore the linkages between societal dynamics and anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. Research contributions may come from sociological research in areas such as the economy, consumption and mobility, environmental and urban questions.
Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.
 

Requirements:
Academic qualifications and additional requirements as specified in Section 15 HmbHG.
 

Additional criteria:
Applicants are expected to have an international research profile and a record of English lan-guage publications, particularly in peer reviewed journals. Proven expertise in the field of digital research methods is also expected.

Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects.

Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration, in particular with the natural sciences, is highly appreciated.

The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.

Following hearings, selected candidates will be assessed to ascertain skills in the areas of management and human resources.
