Public morning talks are part of the "Scancor Workshop on Institutional Analysis 2011" (Aug 29th - Sep 2nd) organized by Woody Powell at University of Mannheim. Speakers are: Bruce Carruthers, Giuseppe Delmestri, Gili S. Drori, Henning Hillmann, Victoria Johnson, Georg Krücken, Renate Meyer, Michael Woywode, Woody Powell and Jason-Owen Smith.
Within the scope of the “Scancor Symposium on Institutional Analysis 2011” ten well-recognized researchers from US and European universities will visit the University of Mannheim, where they will present their current research projects based on institutional analyses and discuss new directions in organizational research with participants of the symposium. During these morning sessions, participating students and researchers are thus given the opportunity to meet and discuss with leading researchers in the field of organizational research.
With Walter Powell, Victoria Johnson, Jason-Owen Smith, Bruce Carruthers and Gili Drori from the US as well as Michael Woywode, Renate Meyer, Henning Hillmann, Giuseppe Delmestri und Georg Krücken from Europe, leading researchers from different research streams within in the field of institutional analysis have followed the invitation to present their recent research projects. Their research interests encompass institutional analysis on both the macro to the micro level while applying a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods including methods from social network analysis:
- Monday, 29th August: New Organizational Forms (Walter W. Powell / Michael Woywode)
- Tuesday, 30th August: Impact of Cultural Contexts on Forms and Practices (Victoria Johnson / Renate Meyer)
- Wednesday, 31th August: Networks and Institutions (Jason Owen-Smith / Henning Hillmann)
- Thursday, 1st September: Economic Consequences (Bruce Carruthers / Giuseppe Delmestri)
- Friday, 2nd September: The Case of Higher Education (Gili Drori / Georg Krücken)
On each day of the symposium, one US and one European researcher will give a public talk on a current research project. Students and researchers from Mannheim and other universities are cordially invited to participate in the morning sessions free of charge. Participants who register for one or more days online or using the attached form are also invited for lunch, where discussions may be continued and deepened.
